I have 4 weeks to make this happen. 10 pounds in 4 weeks. I believe it is possible, but a daunting task. I have been blogging about my journey off and on over the last few weeks. I have been Eating clean and working out, but so much has gotten in the way, and Ive struggled with these overwhelming feelings of being a failure. I went home for the weekend to visit my parents, and it was a lovely visit! I started feeling really great! I was eating clean, and I even got some fitness clothes when I was home. This got me stoked on what was to come! But being home made it hard! I didn’t have my usuals sitting in my own fridge. Is started with a small gelato at the farmers market, and before I knew it, I was gorging on snacks at the moves 2 days in a row! That turned into 3 days being back home before Ive gotten back into the swing of things! I needed to play catch up, which meant sacrificing my work out time and clean eating regime. I seriously feel like I have gained back the 5 pounds I had lost in my first 2 weeks… I look at these blogs about women who are strong and beautiful and never seem to fall off the band wagon, and I wonder why I don’t have that kind of strength… Why does the movie popcorn have such power over me!
But, Each day I continue to give up, and not do anything to change it, is another day I will be unhappy, and another day long fit will take me to meet my goals! I will be back home for a wedding in 4 weeks, and I want to look great! I want to be down 10 pounds! and I will be!
My new regime will be running every morning. I like starting out with cardio, and going in the morning always makes me feel refreshed! Then I will do my brazilian butt lift DVD and and variate between arms and Ab work outs. Sundays will be my days off!
I am following the eat clean stripped diet as well! Ill keep you all posted with my progress! In the future I still want to compete in a Bikini contest. but I don’t have the finds to hire a trainer. For now I just am going to get in the best shape I can on my own, and when I have reached my limits, I will take the next step! Im excited! and ready for my run!
Im going to do something about it! Im not going to sit around and eat chips wishing I was in shape! Bikini ready by August!
Seriously! Im Getting super excited! I’m going shopping for new runners and work out attire today! It’s the exciting boost I need to keep motivated!! Looking cute while
Kicking some Serious butt at the gym, now that’s my idea of a good time! So excited so excited! Getting a knee brace too! I can’t wait to run tonight!!!!
Your message about HCG has really inspired me. I am also very addicted to diets such as this but it really is exactly how you put it. I was about to go to Amazon and buy some more drops, but I believe I know what you know and its really just about eating clean and working out. Thank you for your words.
I’m so glad it inspired you! It’s so easy to get trapped into vicious cycles of weight loss. Especially when there seems to be so many quick fixes… They just don’t last, and that’s the problem. Keep working hard, eating clean, and focusing on the healthy lifestyle you want, not just a quick fix! That’s what I’m trying to do, and so far it’s been pretty great! Good for
You for resisting the temptation!!
Feeling unmotivated today. Feeling self conscious today. Feeling like I will never get to the place I want to be at this rate… Here is the truth… I was the queen of crash dieting!
HCG was the culprit. I first heard about this magic hormone from a friend, who saw it on the Dr. Oz Show. Immediately, my messed up mind was drawn to its promises of results up to a pound a day! So I bought into the idea, got the program, the drops, the books, everything. The weight loss was addictive!! Just as promised, I was loosing a pound a day, but was eating a meal of 500 calories or so a day. The food they allowed was from all the food groups, a piece of low sugar fruit, melba toast, green veggies, and a lean protein… and the rest of my energy was being taken from stored fat in my body! Sounded great! And at first it was! what I wasn’t anticipating, however, was the maintenance phase of such a strict diet… There is a 3 day span after you finish your cycle where you are to stay on the low calorie diet, and not take the HCG anymore. This is supposed to wein your body off and regulate metabolism… But this point always left me so fatigued I had to eat more.. this immediately led to weight gain. Furthermore, even on the maintenance portion of the diet, that is supposed to regulate you metabolism, I would gain up to 3 pound, sometimes overnight! I became addicted to the fast weight loss, and bounced back on forth on this diet for 6 months. I would do the diet and the the drops, go off it, and gain the weight back, and then go o the diet again… In the process my metabolism was shot, my body starved of nutrients, and I had no energy. I lost so much muscle mass because you can’t work out of this diet, so any weight I gained was all fat, and I could see that in the juggling in my tummy. At my largest gain of 145 pounds, I was chubbier then I was when I was 145 at pervious times where I was more muscular. My body had a harder and harder time responding the the HCG the more I did it. I was gaining amenity, but couldn’t re-adjust. I became terrified of any food thinking it would cause me to gain weight so fast!
I still battle with a fear of food. Going over 1,200 calories a day is terrifying. I feel like if I do I will for sure be gaining weight, even though I realize my body needs much more then that to even maintain my current weight. The logic and my thinking patterns aren’t connecting though. Im still ranging around 1,100 calories on a good day, and working out… I know this seems so unhealthy, but its progress in comparison to my 500 calorie a day diet I was doing, even without the HCG. I realize I was heading down a slippery slope! Although HCG works for some people, it only left me mixed up when it came to food, and guilty and frustrated with rapid weight gain…
Any one with a Body Complex should stay away from this! Please! This risk of permanently screwing up your body and mind is too high a risk in my opinion. It took a while for me to stop trying to find quick fixes to my weight gain after that… I was looking at pills, cleanses, anything that promised quick results fast… the fear of returning home to visit having gained 10 pounds from my last visit, seemingly overnight, hangs over me. I worry. I don’t want my mom to make a comment… I just want to be that thin girl all the time.. the one people want to be around. The one boys don’t tease. It seems petty… but I am worried.
It was a big step for me to start eat clean! It is a diet, yes, I have to be on one and get this last 10 - 15 pounds off me, but It is an option that will teach me to not be afraid of food! To learn what foods I can have as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Apples and Almond butter were never even in my vocabulary before this! that was always a binge food that I felt guilty after. Anything not on the HCG list was a cheat, but now I am learning that these are parts of a healthy lifestyle. It is freeing!
I still count calories, and worry about going over 1,200. But I am working to gradually add more calories to my meals, or try to not count at all… its been hard. I get anxiety when I don’t… But I know it is better this way.
My body is adapting. My metabolism is regulating. The small meals every day are helping me stay energized for my work outs and I feel tighter and stronger then ever.
The weight isn’t coming off as fast though… and this is the main roadblock. I am so used to 6 days going by and having lost 6 pounds… 2 - 3 pounds a week is a difficult adjustment, and I feel discouraged and unmotivated… today is one of those days.
But this is the point when I reflect on where I came from. 160 pounds to 130 to 145 and now where I am at 139. My body has gone through hell… I have put it through torture, tested its limits, battled body complexes and eating disorders… Finally… although It is a slow process, I am freeing my body and mind for the prison I put them in.
I just want to be strong. So I will continue to push through, continue to work out hard, and eat clean. I will push negativity away. I will be confident in my body.
Beware the crash diet… eat clean, work out, live healthy
Good morning beautiful Blog, I have missed you so! This weekend, and by weekend I mean last 5 days ( sorry ), has been busy and exciting! Incase anyone has been following me and my 6 day super model slim down, and were wondering if I dropped off the face of the planet, the answer is NO! thank goodness ( that would be scary)! Super Model Slim down ended with a bang! The weekend, however, was indeed the hardest part! I cheated on friday! Me and My boyfriend were going to Hit up the Grouse Grind on Saturday. For Anyone Who does not know, this is a famous Hike up grouse Mountain in Vancouver BC. Its about a 2 hour 2.9 K Hike up “Mother Natures Stair Climber”. In preparation for the day to come, I agreed to My boyfriend pleas for Sushi! I skipped my afternoon snack and lunch ( DONT DO THIS EVER) and went for sushi to fuel up. I knew the 1,200 cal a day diet I had been on would not hold up to that kind of a hike. I watched myself big time though! Nothing deep fried, and I didn’t go over board. Sushi can be very healthy for you! it just isn’t part of the plan. I also make up for the sushi by doubling my work outs that day. I did Bum Bum in the morning, and then I did abs, arms and more butt exercises that night.
Unfortunatley I was already on a cheating role by that point! In the evening I was having a major ice cream craving! But again… I made the clean choice! I make a great frozen yogurt recipe from scratch! TRY THIS ONE! IT ROCKS!
1/2 carton of 0% Plain Organic Yogurt
1 Cup of strawberries and Blueberries
1/4 cup of unsweetened Almond milk
A Splash of Vanilla
And 3 packs of Almond Vanilla Flavoured Stevia!
I put the berries, almond milk stevia and vanilla in my bullet blender and mixed it till smooth. Then I added the blended mixture tot he yogurt. I then poured all this into my ice-cream maker and let it turn for about 20 mins. The result was amazing! I low fat, no added sugar frozen yogurt I could live with! YUM.
I worked out so hard up till that point, and with the anticipated Grind ahead of me, I had a total guilt free, and clean, cheat day!
THIS DID NOT LAST…
I was getting pumped for the day to come, and sure enough… I wake up saturday morning to a down pour! After a few house of saying… “maybe it will clear up”, me and my boyfriend both finally gave in to the fact that that The Grind was not going to happen. Major Let Down after the sushi and frozen yogurt cheat! But instead of letting myself tail spin! I decided that failure would not be an option for the day!
I Did day 6 on my super model slim down almost perfect! I added a few dried mangos into my day as a snack, but oh well! I did Bum Bum and Abs in the morning! then That night I went to the gym and did 25 mins more of cardio, arms, stretches and worked out my back and neck. Then I went into the pool and swam a little… it was more like floating around watching my boyfriend swim ( I WAS WIPED) and laying in the hot tub and sauna. But Still! I feel I more then made up for the missed Grind that day!
The Next Day, Sunday, Was Canada Day! Happy Birthday to my wonderful Country! As I had already been anticipating, this was my Eat Clean Cheat day! I was debating this day after the sushi disaster, but After my official weigh in and measurements for my 6 day challenge, I needed to celebrate!
HERE IT IS LADIES AND GENTS!
In 6 day, I dropped close to 3.5 pounds, and 2 inches all over!! YEEHAAA!!!!
It was intense, and I worked my tush off! I know I didn’t reach my original goals of 4-6 pounds, But I see now that in the scheme of healthy weight loss, that was a ridiculous expectation. Average weight loss is around 2 pounds a week and I almost doubled that in 6 days! I was so proud of myself! Also, I have never felt better in all my weight loss attempts then I do now. I feel strong! I feel as small as I was 8 pounds lighter, even though I am at abut half that. But its because Im Tight! I also know that muscle weighs more then fat! so I may lave lost more pounds in fat and gained the remainder in muscle? Whatever the case! I have more energy then ever, feel better then ever, and Im not craving crap! And When I have, its always been easy to make a clean choice!
Also, My butt is looking great! Passed the Pencil Test in the first 6 days! and going strong!!
To Celebrate Canada Day I packed a Cooler of Great Snacks!
I made Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Power Balls ( I posted the recipe Earlier) as packed lots of healthy snacks like apple and almond butter, 0% greek yogurt, nature valley nut bars, Dries mangos, veggies and hummus, and some light kettle corn!
I worked out in the morning, and me and my Boyfriend walked around like crazy! We even hiked up Oxford street! one mega hill by my house, and I wasn’t even that out of breath! I feel my heart getting stronger! It was a great day of celebrating!
Now the Fun and Games have ended! Today I move to the Eat Clean Stripped Plan and the usual Brazilian Butt Lift 4 week program! Im ready for it! Sundays will be my rest day/ if I want to have a clean cheat day. But the other 6 days will be going hard! Eat Clean Stripped, Butt lift, and evening Runs! My Goal is to lose another 3 + pounds this week and 2 inches.
Il keep you posted With my Progress! Hopefully more often then the last few days!
What's that fat? You didn't like it when I drop-kicked you in the face!?
Day 3 Brazilian butt lift challenge has commenced! And I’m kicking my fat in the face! In just 3 days I am amazed at how my body has changed! I haven’t weighed or measured myself, but just looking in the mirror I see a tighter more lifted bottom, a reduced tummy, and more definition in my abs! I never thought I would see results so fast! If you have questioned if you want to plunge into this work out, but we’re not sure in the past! I am a real person seeing real results fast!! Buy it! Work it!
Leandro is a little ridiculous! His accent is so funny! You can’t help but laugh and have fun! Once you get past the insecurities of the first few works outs! It is a total fun fat blast!!!
It was definitely a challenge getting motivated this morning! Along with my Bum Bum and Basics work outs, I did arms with my boyfriend last night, and some abs ( that clearly was pure ridiculousness since my abs were so soar from the previous days work out). This morning I was more soar then I can ever remember being in my life! My bum aches all over! But I am loving the burn!!! Today’s cardio axe was a nice relief! Not as hard on my aching muscles but really got my fat burning cardio going!! After that 30 min work out I did the Abs DVD again to really kick that tummy fat in the ass!! I can’t wait to do my weigh in and measurements Saturday to see how far I’ve come!!
Today’s cardio brought me around 160bpm on my heart rate monitor.
According to the shape sense.com heart rate based calorie burn calculator. I burned about 300 calories in my 28 min work out! That’s not counting my warm up time. Woohoo!
I’ll take that kind of burn in a half hour!
Meal plan for today is pretty simple!
Egg, half an English muffin, 5 spears of asparagus and half a grape fruit for breakfast, nuts as a snack, tuna salad for lunch, and lemon chicken with a cup of snap pease and broccoli for dinner! I’ve had better meals on the plan, but it’s still ok! I did cheat a bit and had 3 pieces of 98% dark chocolate from Lindt instead of my pineapple this morning as a snack. But I really needed that pick me up!!
Going strong! Feeling motivated!
I hope this can be an encouragement for you! It is possible! You just need to push through! - CJR
So after a brief set back, of a Saturday BBQ and a Sunday night of snacking in with my boyfriend (who wasn’t starting his fitness plan till Monday and naturally convinced me to just start with him - totally worth it btw), I am officially on day 2 of my super model slim down - brazilian butt lift challenge. I have to say! I feel amazing!
When I first did cardio axe, I was amazed at the quality full body work out! My heart rate monitor showed I was peaking around 160bpm, an optimum cardio range burning 50% from fat and 50% from carbs! The supermodel slim down is complex carbohydrate rich, and low in fat, so this range works at burning off carbs and my stored fat perfectly!
On day 1 I also did cardio abs! A 20 min sculpting routine that made it hurt to laugh the next day!
The meal plan, though small, was satisfying! Lots of small meals throughout the day ranging around 1,100 calories a day. This is only recommended for the 6 day programs for obvious reasons! that is too low a calorie range for proper weight loss! This is just a kick start!
My boyfriend is currently doing the meal plan as well, but doing his own work outs. Even in the men’s portion sizes, however, he adds extra calories to his day from the fat burning foods guide included in the beach body package. He is a naturally muscular built guy, and works a labour intensive job, so the calories are too few for him! Any men thinking about this program should take this into consideration. I also take potassium, And B12 suppliers for energy! And it really helps!
Tip*** I purchased an 2 liter water bottle from Walmart the other day! H2O brand! It carries 8 glasses in it! It’s perfect to make sure you get in your water!! That 2 liters should be a minimum!!! I usually also have tea at night on top of my water! You pee like a race horse! But it’s exactly what the body needs to flush those toxins!!!
Today I did the bum bum work out and the basics DVD. I wanted to flop over and die!!! It was way more intense then the cardio axe! And my bum and legs are on fire!! It’s a great feeling!! My BPM topped at a 173 range… 80-90% of my max heart rate. This is the range for intense cardio training! I couldn’t believe it! 85% burned was from carbs and 15% from fat. Although I am aiming for fat loss, this range will keep me burning throughout the day! And gets my hear and lungs in shape for stronger work outs in the future!
I feel tired, but strong, and it’s only say 2! I can feel this program working! And already recommend it!! I’m going for a jog later with my boyfriend. I hope I can keep up after this mornings work out!
Although I am still pushing hard, I’m not going to weigh in or do measurements till the 6 days are up. I’m excited to see the results and share them!!
Super Model Slim Down and Brazilian Butt Lift Day 1!
OK! so the day has come… After a few final days of getting myself mentally, emotionally, and financially prepared, I am finally starting the six day supermodel slim down and brazilian butt lift work out! I got all my groceries yesterday! and had a celebratory Last Supper of Quiona - My lives addiction - and of course, Oreo Pudding!. But now its time to get serious!
This is a 6 day program included witht he brazilian butt lift work out that promises you can lose up to 6 pound and 6 inches in just 6 day!!!It seems to good to be true… But I really do need a jump start to my fitness plan! SO here we go!!!
As I said in earlier posts, I will follow the 6 day plan and then turn to the eat clean stripped diet, so we will see how my progress goes. My goal is to lose between 4-6 pound in the next week. I know that sounds extreme! But if I hit even 4 pounds! I will be thrilled!
I did my measurements, weigh in, and before and after photos this morning… UGGG Couldn’t be more depressed!!! I have officially put on about 14 pounds since my lowest weight of 128lbs… So I am starting at 142… hopefully 138 by the end of the week!!
My Body Fat percentage according to my I phone app shows I am still in healthy range at 28.2%, as is my weight, But it teetering close to the line of moderately overweight. The goal is to be between 125 - 127 lbs, and have my BMI around 21 - 22
Along with the Super model Slim Down, and Brazilian Butt Lift work outs, I will be running every night. I believe that this 4-6 pounds is do-able in 7 days. Although, I know it will mostly be water weight and poop flushing out of my system!
I have 2 weeks till I go home to visit my friends and Family in AB. And I would like to have 7 pounds down by then!!!
Todays Workout is the Basics and Cardio Abs! My Best friend did the workout already last week, and told me she couldn’t walk the next day! So I am definitely going to do some mighty stretching!
Breakfast this morning was 1/2 a while wheat english muffin, 1 egg, 5 spears of asparagus, and a half of a grape fruit! It looks delicious!!! AND it Included protein, and complex carbohydrates to fuel my work out! I added 1 tsp of Flax to my egg for some healthy fats too!
I was peering into interesting things about what we eat, and the environment our foods come from, this morning! I found this great Blog, outlining some cool thoughts and Ideas on sustainability! Learning about how we keep the environment healthy is just as important as how we keep our bodies healthy! Clean Eating and Sustainable Food systems come hand-in-hand! - CJR
Why Food Sustainability Matters and 10 Things You Can Do About It!
by SHANNON on MAY 19, 2010 in NOURISHMENT
Most of the food found in the grocery store is the product of an unsustainable food system. This food is dependent on foreign oil, is destroying soil, contaminates water, has caused disease outbreaks, and may be robbing our grandchildren of the ability to grow food at all. It is often said that consumers hold a lot of power, but I believe that to stop being a consumer is even more powerful. Choosing not to support the industrial food system is the beginning of sustainable eating. So what is sustainable eating and how do you do it?
Why Food Sustainability Matters and What You Can Do
The more I learn about our food system and how it came to be, the more concerned I am for our children and grandchildren. Growing Concerns: Animal products are increasingly raised purely for profit, without regard to proper stewardship or health. We are monocropping, and the government is subsidizing it. Food is transported and processed using large amounts of non-renewable resources. Food is being genetically modified, cloned, and patented. The problem is that we are separated from the origins of our food. So while we may realize that buying organic is important, organic is now just as industrialized as conventional foods. You may wonder what little old you can do about all of this. More than you think. Photo by galant Vote With Your Food Dollars What if every time you made a food purchase you could make a difference? Every dollar spent at a farmer’s market is one less dollar supporting the industrialized food system. Every piece of food grown in your own backyard becomes a symbol of freedom. The moms who feed their families have more power than they know.
What Sustainable Eating Looks Like
We have all been told to “read labels” when we’re choosing our foods. That’s not bad advice, but most sustainable foods do not have labels. Sustainable foods don’t need labels because they… are real foods that our bodies were designed to eat. are healthy for us, the soil, and the animals. do not harm the environment. are humane for both the workers and the animals. provide a fair wage to the farmer without the use of government subsidies. support the local economy instead of large corporations. Sustainable food is what people ate for thousands of years, up until 20th century.
10 Tips For Sustainable Eating
My journey to sustainable eating hasn’t been easy, and it certainly isn’t over. Here are ten steps that we have taken to become mindful eaters.
1. Learn to Cook. Without basic cooking knowledge, none of this is possible. Learning to cook your favorite foods using local ingredients can really make all the difference.
2. Eat Locally. If you care about delicious food, health eating, proper stewardship of the planet, and supporting your local economy then you must source out local ingredients.
3. Eat Seasonally. This goes hand-in-hand with eating locally. Eat root vegetables and hearty greens in the fall and winter. Eat salads, fruit, and tomatoes in the summer. Even milk and eggs are more abundant during certain times of the year.
4. Preserve the Harvest. If you eat locally or seasonally then you’ll have to learn to preserve the harvest. Try canning, dehydrating, freezing, and lacto-fermentation. Look to Simple Bites for a helpful how-to series later in the season.
5. Grow Something… Anything. Start with herbs or lettuce. Radishes are really fast and fairly simple. Even if you rent you can create a container garden. Once you catch the gardening bug you will just want to grow more. Simple Organic had a great article for beginning gardeners.
6. Give Up Store Bought Convenience Foods and Make Your Own. You can make your own taco seasoning, yogurt, chicken stock, pesto, granola, tomato sauce… the list goes on and on. If you buy it from the store, do a quick recipe search and try making it at home.
7. Buy Fair-Trade. When you don’t know your farmer because you’re buying from a foreign country look for the words “Fair-Trade”. TransFair USA ensures that farmers are treated justly and paid fairly for their work.
8. Know The Cost of Cheap Food. Do you ever wonder why some supermarket food is just so cheap? You may not pay for it at the cash register, but the cost to your health, the soil, and the environment are there. I rambled about the cost of a nourishing diet not once, but twice. It really is important.
9. Eat Animal Products. I know this may be controversial, but locally grown animal products can be more sustainable than those grains and beans from the bulk bins. I have seen the “organic” bins be filled with bags from China. I know that not everyone feels the same way, but it is my personal belief that locally, biodynamically raised animal products are a better choice than monocropped grains and beans.
10. Be Willing To Give Up Convenience. This may be the hardest part of changing the way you eat. On the other hand, it forces you to simplify your food in a way that promotes health and flavor. The simple truth is sustainable food does not outsource it’s preparation. Eating mindfully may take a bit more effort, but the rewards – for your family and their future – are too big to pass up.
